If you enjoy fruit smoothies, then this wine cocktail is for you. Brimming with fresh strawberries, oranges and mint, this delicious concoction is topped off with sparkling rose wine to give it a perfect kick! Enjoy during Sunday brunch, by the pool, or anytime you want to relax with a fresh fruit cocktail.
We found a recipe online called a Sparkling Strawberry Cocktail. The ingredients were 2 cups hulled strawberries, 2 tablespoons water, ¼ cup orange juice, 1 bottle chilled Prosecco or other dry sparkling wine, 1 orange, sliced into rounds, and mint sprigs for garnish.
While this was good the puree was just really thick and we wanted to use rose wine and try to incorporate liquor as well. Therefore we modified it and created the Sparkling Wine Smoothie. This is a recipe that you can let people combine themselves in a party format, or create a mix of the ingredients in advance and chill in the fridge.
Ingredients for One Serving
- 2 sprigs fresh mint
- ½ lb fresh strawberries
- ½ orange juiced with chunks
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1/3 cup water
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon – 1 tablespoon of gin (or vodka if you don’t like the taste of gin)
- Sparkling Rose wine (we used Andre)
Blend strawberries, oranges, lemon juice, water, and sugar in blend. Place 1/3 cup of mixture in a wine glass. Top with gin and sparkling rose wine.
